Discotheques O Discontent, 2025

The concept: eight men in their mid-40's were invited to submit two tracks each (any genre, and I wouldn't veto anything) to be mixed continuously by any means necessary. (One declined to contribute so what's in here is constructed from 14 tracks, see tracklist below).

The submissions were diverse, to put it mildly, and extraordinary tactics were employed to shoehorn them together including stems isolation and extreme pitch and tempo shifting. In summary: This was was done for a challenge and a bit of a laugh and was essentially aimed at an audience of seven, so may not appeal to everyone!

Stems Mix

Stems is a relatively new feature of digital DJ software which enables DJs to isolate individual elements of a song, eg vocals, drums, bass, instruments, not just frequency ranges. It isn't perfect, but can be very good. This is my first mix (using VirtualDJ) dedicated to engaging this capability to create something really unique.
